Emotions control the rhythm of the heart. Anxiety, stress and anger accelerate the heart rate, while calmness, composure and gratitude help slowing it down.
Chakrasana or wheel posture has a tremendous effect on the heart and emotions. The nature of the pose opens up the torso and releases tightness and blockages in physical and emotional levels. The hatha yoga tradition sees this posture as a bridge connecting the six chakras or energy wheels along the spinal cord. Practicing this posture with a comfortable, deep and slow breathing allows an extraordinary experience; visualizing and feeling the energy field within each chakra from the perineum (muladhara chakra) to the center between the eyebrows (ajna chakra). All the barriers within open up to creativity, receptivity, balance and love.
