These difficult times of confinement, unclear deconfinement and social distancing make us fearful of getting close to other human beings and consciously keeping a safe distance between each other. The nature of human beings is to hug, touch and cuddle and we are all experiencing unnatural sensations leading to more fear and anxiety. Known as the “cuddle hormone” or “happy hormone”, oxytocin helps create stronger bonds, trust and relashionship with people. While the level of oxytocin increases when we sit close to people, hug, touch and cuddle, the level of blood pressure and stress decreases.
This is the time to look inside and give all the craving hugs, and cuddles to yourself and recognize that there is no such thing as distancing with the self. Restorative Yoga is a gentle practice that instantly dissolves uncertainty, doubt, fear, stress and regret, opening up a vast space of profond peace in the present moment. The hugs, connectedness, self-care and the love are felt in all levels of your being. The body restores its vital energy. The breath slows down and invites the body to connect with a higher level of consciousness, an infinite space of trust and love. The mind enjoys a state of pure calmness and clarity. The emotions bathe in positive vibrations and unconditional love. It is time to cultivate awareness and honor your body, your breath, your thoughts, your emotions and dive deep into the self to recognize that there is no separation and no distancing with the infinite divine love within.
