Cold showers increase the prana, the life-force energy

Cold water ranges between 5 to 8 degrees celsius below room temperature. Before practicing yoga, allow the whole body to immerse in a large volume of cold water. The pores of the skin open up, the blood circulates around the organs, the body and the mind become alert and the senses refreshed. This is a simple preparation that helps to embrace the gift of yoga with a powerful intention, an energized body and a clear mind, feeling alive, light and young. Ayurveda favors morning cold showers. They are healing, energizing and calming. They enhance overall health and boost the immune system.

You should NOT take cold showers during menstruation, after a meal (heat is needed for digestion), if experiencing gastro-intestinal disorder or if suffering from cold, fever, bronchitis, eye, ears or throat pain.
