Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) in Sanskrit, means “supported asana (yoga postures) for the entire body parts”. By placing the head down, locking the neck and raising the legs up, the body explores a new relationship with gravity. The entire body learns to conserve the prana, the life force energy and harness the power of awareness. Because of the antigravity, the whole system flourishes in harmony, slowing down the aging process, improving blood flow to the heart and brain, soothing the nerves, stimulating the internal organs, refreshing the body and clearing the mind. Ayurveda traditions see the human body as an inverted tree where the head is the root, nourishing, nurturing and regulating the functions of the entire body.
Carpe Diem 🙏🏻
All inversion postures should be practiced under the guidance of an experienced yoga teacher to appreciate the subtle benefits safely.
