Yogasanas with closed eyes

Out of the five human senses, vision is the most dominant, then comes hearing, touch, taste and smell. When the eyes are closed, half the world disappears with its stimulations and distractions resting the mind with less information to process. Decreasing the sense of vision during yoga practice allows internalization, leading to a deeper state of consciousness and an immense feeling of inner peace and tranquility. Some people do not feel comfortable closing their eyes, others feel joy. Keeping the eyes soft and meditative is the best way for everybody to practice yoga, yin or/and yang and to enter the state of deep connection. Restorative postures fully benefit from the eyes closed encouraging the body and the mind to slowly release tension and discomfort. The purpose of yoga is the intention of looking inward to cultivate kindness, stability and joy. A skilled yogi is the one who is able to practice yoga with a calm and steady mind. With proper guidance, patience and consistence, the yogi begins to trust it’s inner teacher, the place from where strength, courage, and values arise to help see clearly what is most important in life.
